TARREN, MEN’S GOLF FINISH ONE SHOT BACK OF TOURNAMENT TITLES

ROUND 3  |  INDIVIDUAL

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. –
Led by junior Callum Tarren's career-low 54-hole ledger of 6-under-par 207, the Radford men's golf team finished one shot behind High Point in the team standings on Tuesday at the Joe Agee Invitational hosted by William and Mary at the par 71, 6,837-yard Williamsburg Club.

Tarren's three-round 207 (64-70-73) was one shot higher than individual medalist, Chase Wilson, of the Panthers. Wilson carded rounds of 67, 67 and 72.

Thanks to Wilson's efforts, High Point was able to hold off Radford in the team chase by recording rounds of 287, 285 and 289. The Highlanders posted a 290 for the final round to provide the difference. The Tribe finished a distant third at 873 (286-291-296)

It was quite a tournament for the Darlington, England native as Tarren recorded his highest-ever finish in a collegiate event. Furthermore, Tarren's first-round 7-under-par 64 was a new course record. He finished second in the field with 14 birdies, second in par-5 scoring at 6-under-par, and third in par-4 scoring at 1-under-par.

Recording his eighth career Top-5 showing, Eklund ended in third place, one stroke behind Tarren at 208 (70-68-70). His final-round 1-under-par 70 was tied for the low round of the day. Eklund finished second in the field in par-4 scoring at 2-under-par, tied for third in birdies (12), and tied for third in par-5 scoring at 4-under-par.

Tanner Carbaugh charted a career-best 15th-place finish at 223 (76-73-74). The sophomore tied for fifth in par-3 scoring, shooting even-par through three rounds.

Ryan Rettberg tied for 23rd at 226 (75-78-73) to chalk up his best collegiate finish, while Conner Hayden carded a 229 (76-76-77) to finish tied for 32nd.

The squad has nearly a month off before its next tournament on the eastern shore of North Carolina. The Highlanders will be making a return trip there for the OBX/ODU Invitational hosted by Old Dominion at the renowned Kilmarlic Golf Club. The three-day tournament begins Oct. 21.
