THROWERS HIGHLIGHT DAY ONE FOR HIGHLANDERS AT LIBERTY OPEN

RESULTS

LYNCHBURG, Va.
En route to taking three of the top-six spots in the women's weight throw, Radford track and field's throwers set two personal records on day one of the Liberty Open held at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center on the campus of Liberty University Friday evening.

Leading the way was freshman Ashlen Veatch, who hurled a personal-best and an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying mark of 16.22 meters to finish runner-up in the event.

Finishing fifth was Jazmine Banks with a personal-best 14.82-meter toss, while Jordan Wilson concluded in sixth with a 14.65-meter effort. Emmalene Hale's heave of 13.01 meters placed her in 14th for the event.

Also competing on the meet's opening day was Kayla Burd, who tied her person-best mark in the women's pole vault set at last year's Liberty Open. She landed a 2.70-meter mark to tie for 12th. Burd finished tied for 14th with the same mark a season ago.
