WILLIAMSON’S TOP-10 PACES CROSS COUNTRY AT BLUE RIDGE OPEN

BOONE, N.C. –
Junior Teresa Williamson's seventh-place showing highlighted Radford cross country's performance at the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State at Don Kennedy Trails Friday afternoon.
 
In the team standings, the Highlander men (435 points) finished 15th out of 28 teams and the women (465 points) concluded in 17th out of 27 programs. Appalachian State claimed the men's race with 102 points, while Furman won the women's race with 45 points.
 
Williamson completed the 5K course in 18:15.69, which smashed her previous personal record of 18:58. Courtney Rice ran the distance in 19:52.63 to place 90th, while Madeline Thomas crossed the line in 20:23.80 to finish 123rd. Malina Richardson was 161st at 21:13.18, followed by Courtney Burton (21:16.70 – PR) in 166th and Katie Hickey (21:58.72) in 183rd.
 
Ryan Farnan paced Radford on the men's side as he finished the 8K course in 25:35.85 to place 42nd. Chaz Porter was the next Highlander to cross the line. The freshman completed the track in 26:43.22 (PR) to earn 108th place. Chris Weeks finished three places behind with his 26:44.79 pace. Joey Hannah (114th) was clocked at 26:46.67 (PR), while Daniel Moniak (133rd) was timed in 27:06.27. Eric Graves rounded out Radford's competitors in 176th place at 28:10.14.
 
Sandy Roberts, running unattached, completed the course in 24:19.28 to edge Cedarville's Matt Brooker by nearly eight seconds in the men's race. Furman's Allie Buchalski bested two of her teammates to win the women's race with her 17:39.37 performance. Only five seconds separated the three Paladins.
 
RU now turns its attention to the Big South Championships, which are set for Nov. 2 at the Vista Link Golf Course in Buena Vista, Va.
