POWELLS POINT, N.C. –
Tanner Carbaugh and Ryan Rettberg both recorded a 1-under-par 70, and Radford men's golf is in second place following Sunday's opening round of the ODU/OBX Invitational at the par 71, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club.

Elon leads the Highlanders by three shots after the Phoenix carded a 2-over-par 286. Four of their golfers are in the top 25 of the individual standings. VCU and Maryland are tied for sixth at 294, while Drake (296), Bowling Green State (299) and James Madison (300) round out the top 10.

Behind their second sub-par rounds of the fall, Carbaugh and Rettberg are tied for second with five other competitors. They trail Marshall's Logan Lagodich, who returned a 2-under-par 69 to the clubhouse.

Carbaugh played the par 3s in 1-under-par, which is tied for third in the 93-player field. He is also tied for fourth in birdies made with four. Rettberg was one of six golfers to capture an eagle during the first round.

Callum Tarren shot a 5-over-par 76 and is tied for 48th, while Conner Hayden finished one stroke behind with a 77 and is tied for 52nd.
