RETTBERG GUIDES MEN'S GOLF IN OUTER BANKS

POWELLS POINT, N.C. –
Despite improving five shots, the Radford men's golf team slipped to fifth place following Monday's second round of the ODU/OBX Invitational at the par 71, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club.
 
Behind four scores in red figures, 96th-ranked Hartford fired a 7-under-par 277 to earn the overnight lead at 1-under-par 567 (290-277). Two shots behind in second place is first-round leader Elon at 569 (287-282). Marshall is in third place at 570 (290-280), followed by No. 78 VCU (572) and Radford (573).

The Highlanders backed their 289 from Sunday with an even-par 284 on Monday. RU is three shots clear of host Old Dominion (576). Maryland (578), James Madison (583), Bowling Green State (588) and Longwood (588) complete the top 10.

Ryan Rettberg leads the way for the Highlanders at 1-under-par 141 (70-71), which has him tied for eighth. Tanner Carbaugh is tied for 18th at 144 (70-74), while Nick Brediger is tied for 25th at 145 (73-72).

Two strokes behind are Callum Tarren and Conner Hayden, who are tied for 33rd at 147. Tarren carded an even-par 71, while Hayden logged the only sub-par round for RU on the day (70).

Marshall's Logan Lagodich extended his lead in the individual race after returning a 4-under-par 67 to the clubhouse. His 6-under-par 136 (69-67) is two swings clear of VCU's Rocky Khara and ODU's Jamison Randall.

Tuesday's final round is set to begin at 8 a.m. as Radford plays its final 18 holes of the tournament with VCU and ODU.
