CROSS COUNTRY TO COMPETE AT BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's and women's cross country teams set their sights on their biggest meet of the season, the Big South Championships. VMI is the host of Saturday's event, which will be ran at Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista, Va.
At last season's championship meet, RU had an eighth-place showing on the men's side and tied for eighth in the women's portion of the race.

The Highlander women are coming off a 17th-place finish at the Blue Ridge Open, led by a seventh-place individual performance from Teresa Williamson. The junior smashed her previous 5K record of 18:58 by completing the course in 18:15.69.

The next finisher was Courtney Rice, who placed 90th with a time of 19:57.63. Madeline Thomas crossed the line in 20:23.80, while Malina Richardson was 161st at 21:13.18. Following her were Courtney Burton (21:16.70-PR) in 166th and Katie Hickey (21:58.72) in 183rd.

Pacing the men's squad was Ryan Farnan, who placed 42nd on the 8K course in a time of 25:35.85. Freshman Chaz Porter garnered a personal record time and a 108th-place finish, crossing the line in 26:43.27.Â

Chris Weeks finished three places behind with a time of 26:44.79. Joey Hannah (114th) reached the finish in 26:46.67, a personal best. Daniel Moniak concluded in 133rd at 27:06.27, and Eric Graves rounded out the Highlanders' competitors in 176th at 28:10.14.

The men's 8K championship is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m., and the women's 5K will follow at 11:30 a.m. Awards for the conference champions will be given out at 12:30 p.m.
