BREDIGER IN THIRD ENTERING FINAL ROUND AT WENDY’S KIAWAH CLASSIC

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. –
Freshman Nick Brediger is in third place while Radford men's golf is tied for seventh following Monday's second round of the Wendy's Kiawah Classic played at Kiawah Island Resort's Turtle Point Golf Course (par 72, 7,061 yards).
 
33rd-ranked South Carolina continues to lead the 54-hole tournament. The Gamecocks were able to dip into red figures again on Monday as they carded a 2-under-par 286. USC is 7-under-par (569) through its 36 holes, which is 19 shots clear of Marquette. The Golden Eagles surged into second behind the sensational play of individual frontrunner Nick Nelson.
 
Marquette (588) is one swing ahead of Presbyterian College (589) and four clear of Missouri (592). Winthrop (593), Charleston Southern (594), Radford (596), Towson (596), Elon (598) and Wisconsin (601) round out the top 10.
 
Nelson fired a tournament-low 5-under-par 67 in the second round to catapult into first place. His 7-under-par 137 is two strokes better than Will Starke of South Carolina. Brediger lurks five shots off the lead at 2-under-par 142 (69-73).
 
Behind the freshman's lead is Tanner Carbaugh, who is tied for 31st at 150 (71-79). Ryan Rettberg is tied for 39th at 152 (73-79) and Callum Tarren is tied for 65th at 156 (82-74). Conner Hayden's 159 (78-81) has the sophomore tied for 79th.
 
Tuesday's final round begins at 7:30 a.m. off the first tee for Radford. The Highlanders will be playing with Elon and Towson. Live scoring will be provided by Golfstat.
