MEN’S TENNIS FALTERS AT SMU, 5-2

DALLAS, Texas – Although Thomas Dehaen and Stijn Meulemans delivered victories in singles play, Radford was unable to defeat Southern Methodist Tuesday afternoon as the Mustangs pulled out a 5-2 decision at the Samuell Grand Tennis Center.

SMU (4-6) went ahead 1-0 by claiming the doubles point. Nate Lammons and Pablo Perez-Esnaola won on court three over Patrick O'Keefe and Joe Mills, 8-1. The Mustangs clinched the point when Arturs Kazijevs and Mischa Nowicki upset 47th-ranked Nicholas Sayer and Dehaen, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles.

Despite dropping his doubles match, Dehaen remained unbeaten (4-0) in singles this season by dispatching Gaston Cuadranti (6-4, 5-7, 10-6) at the third flight. Also picking up a singles victory was Meulemans, who moved to 3-0 for the season while playing in the fourth slot. The junior took down Nowicki (7-6, 1-6, 11-9) on court four.

However, the Highlanders would not win any of the other four singles contests to drop to 1-5 on the season.

Radford will look to get back on the winning track Wednesday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m. (CT) when the squad battles UT-Arlington (5-5) at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas.
