HIGHLANDERS HOLD OFF LAMAR, 4-2

BEAUMONT, Texas – Radford finished off a rain-postponed nonconference men's tennis match Thursday afternoon at the Thompson Family Tennis Center by defeating Lamar, 4-2.

Originally scheduled for Sunday, March 10, rain in the southeastern part of Texas forced the match to be moved. In the lone match completed Sunday, sophomore Patrick O'Keefe quickly put Radford up 1-0 after his straight-set (6-0, 6-3) victory at No. 6 singles over Trey Crysel.

Stijn Meulemans put the Highlanders (3-5) up by two following his 6-2, 7-5 triumph over Steven McMullan. Winning for the fifth consecutive outing, the junior improves to 5-2 on the season.

Thomas Dehaen kept his unbeaten singles record in tact following his 6-4, 6-3 victory over Bruno Snyder on court three. The senior, who moved to 6-0 in dual matches, gave RU a 3-0 advantage with three to go.

The Cardinals (1-11) made some noise by claiming three-set wins at the second and fifth flights, but Nicholas Sayer prevented any chance of a comeback when he completed a rally of his own to down Rob Lee (6-7, 6-4, 7-6) at No. 1 singles to clinch the match.

The Highlanders return to the court Friday, March 15 at 12:00 p.m. (CT) when they face Rice in Houston, Texas.
