DARTMOUTH DODGES COMEBACK ATTEMPT BY MEN’S TENNIS

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Radford recovered from a 2-0 deficit to square the match, but Dartmouth was able to record the next two singles victories for a 4-2 nonconference men's tennis triumph Friday night at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

In addition to winning the doubles point, the Big Green (6-8) chalked up a win at No. 1 singles to go ahead 2-0. Despite Thomas Dehaen winning the first set 7-5, Xander Centenari prevailed in the final two sets by identical scores of 6-0.

Playing on court two, Nicholas Sayer grinded out a three-set (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) victory over Chris Kipouras to put the first point on the board for Radford (3-8). Winning three of his previous four matches, Sayer evens his record at 5-5 for the season.

Delivering the equalizer was Stijn Meulemans, who dispatched Cameron Ghorbani (3-6, 6-1, 6-2) at No. 3 singles to improve his team-best win streak to six matches. The junior is 6-2 overall this year.

Dartmouth halted the momentum when Erik Nordahl was able to battle back from an early deficit in the deciding third set to post a 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 win over Joe Mills in a tightly-contested battle on court four. Brendan Tannenbaum clinched the dual for the Big Green at the sixth position, downing Randall Carter (6-1, 6-1).

The Highlanders have a short turnaround as they hit the road for a Saturday conference clash with UNC Asheville at 1:00 p.m. from the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown. RU defeated the Bulldogs in their lone meeting last season, 6-1.
