
AUSTIN EXCELS ON SECOND DAY AT KIAWAH ISLAND

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Sophomore Alexandra Austin completed her second round at 3-over-par 75 and is tied for 26th entering the final day of the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Classic being contested on the resort's Oak Point (par 72, 5,907 yards) and Cougar Point (par 72, 6,001 yards) golf courses and hosted by the College of Charleston.
Despite Austin's round, Radford carded a 329 on Monday and is 23rd in the 32-team field with 18 holes to play with a two-day ledger of 646 (317-329). The Cougars, ranked 84th by Golfstat, remain the leader of the pack at 596 (292-304). CofC is led by co-overnight leader Julia Neumann, who posted a 145 (74-71) and is tied with Campbell's Brooke Bellomy and Richmond's Tracy Martin.
Behind Bellomy's second-round-best 4-under-par 68, the 36th-ranked Camels carded a 299 and are in second, four shots off the pace. Richmond (605), Troy (610) and Daytona State (612) round out the Top-5 teams.
Logging four birdies in an 11-hole stretch, Austin turned in her third-lowest round of the season Monday. At 153 (78-75) through 36 holes of play, the Burke, Va. native has placed herself in position to record her fifth Top-25 showing of the season.
Eight strokes behind Austin is Paige Reese, who has a two-round total of 161 (81-80) and is tied for 88th. Hayley Hammond is tied for 115th at 165 (77-88) and Kirsty Condon is tied for 132nd at 168 (81-87). Katie Parrott fired a two-day 174 (87-87) and is tied for 149th in the 172-player field.
This prestigious event annually attracts one of the largest fields in all of women's collegiate golf. This year's lineup features four squads ranked in the Top-100 according to Golfstat—No. 36 Campbell, No. 77 Elon, No. 84 College of Charleston and No. 92 Samford.
The final round gets underway Tuesday morning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring will be provided by Golfstat here.
