CROSS COUNTRY RELEASES 2013 SCHEDULE

2013 Schedule

RADFORD, Va. – Radford University director of cross country Brent Chumbley and new head coach Mackenzie Wartenberger revealed the 2013 Highlander cross country schedule Wednesday.

"I think our schedule looks really strong for the 2013 season," said coach Wartenberger. "All together, the whole program has high hopes and high expectations for Highlander cross country this fall."

The Highlanders open their season in Charlottesville, Va. for the University of Virginia Duals on August 30.

Then they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational on September 7. Last season, the RU men won the event while the women finished third.

Two weeks later, the Highlanders travel to the Virginia Military Institute Invitational on September 21. The following week RU heads to the Charlotte Invite hosted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for the second straight year on September 28.

As a final tune-up before the Big South Conference Championship meet, Radford takes a trek down south to Appalachian State for the Blue Ridge Open on October 18. The Highlanders have competed in this meet for the past five seasons.

On November 2, the Highlanders travel to Buena Vista, Va. for the Big South Conference Championship meet.

Two weeks later in Charlottesville, Va. will be the NCAA Southeast Regional.

"I am excited about the upcoming season and Coach Wartenberger taking the reigns," said Chumbley. "I expect good improvements from both teams this year."
