FLORENCE, S.C. – The Radford men's golf team carded a 3-over-par 291 in Tuesday's final round to finish seventh at the SpringHill Suites Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion at the Country Club of South Carolina (par 72, 7,062 yards).

USC Upstate led wire-to-wire in posting a 12-under-par 852 (284-277-291). The Spartans had to hold off a furious rally by Presbyterian College, which carded a 9-under-par 279 Tuesday to conclude the event at 10-under-par 854. Samford was third at 7-under-par 857, followed by Elon (858), Francis Marion (858) and Wofford (862). The Highlanders were seven strokes behind the Terriers at 5-over-par 869 (286-292-291).

Leading the Radford contingent was Conner Hayden, who posted his second career top-10 performance. The sophomore charted a 2-under-par 214 (67-72-75) to tie for ninth in the 65-player field.

Callum Tarren returned the best score for the Highlanders in the final round, shooting a 1-under-par 71 to tie for 21st at even-par 216 (73-72-71). Four strokes behind was Tanner Carbaugh, who tied for 35th at 220 (72-76-72).

Nick Brediger tied for 41st in his collegiate debut at 223 (75-72-76). Joining the freshman at 223 was Ryan Rettberg, who carded rounds of 74, 76 and 73.

Carter Davis of Presbyterian College carded three sub-par rounds to finish at 10-under-par 206 (67-71-68) and claim medalist honors.

Radford returns to the course Sept. 23-24 at the Golf Galaxy VCU Shootout hosted by the Rams at Hermitage Country Club in Manakin-Sabot, Va.
