O’KEEFE, MEEKERS INTO ROUND OF 16 AT ITA ATLANTIC REGIONAL

RESULTS

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Patrick O'Keefe and Michiel Meekers of the Radford men's tennis team paired up to win two doubles decisions Friday at the ITA Atlantic Regional hosted by Virginia at its Snyder Tennis Center.

The two Highlanders advance to Saturday's round of 16 where they will clash with Virginia Tech's Florian Nicoud and Aaron Gomez at 9 a.m.

O'Keefe and Meekers started the day with an 8-2 triumph over Theophile Lanthiez and Samuel Perelman of Old Dominion in the round of 64. Later in the day, the duo dispatched Addison Appleby and Christian Cargill of William & Mary, 8-2, in the round of 32.

In singles, Meekers was unable to hold on to his set-up advantage against Duquesne's Corey Robinson. After opening with a 6-4 win in the first frame, the freshman dropped the next two sets (6-1, 6-0). Meekers will play Daniel Gray of UMBC in a consolation match Saturday at 12 p.m.

O'Keefe, who had a bye in the round of 128, will begin singles competition Saturday at 10:30 a.m. against Mike Reilly of Penn State.
