COCHRANE EXCELS IN RADFORD DEBUT AT CAMDEN COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL

ROUNDS 1-2

CAMDEN, S.C. –
It was an impressive debut for Radford men's golf freshman Callum Cochrane as he posted an even-par 140 (69-71) to lead the Highlanders in Saturday's opening 36 holes of the Camden Collegiate Invitational. South Carolina is hosting the two-day event at the par 70, 6,455-yard Camden Country Club.

Cochrane, who carded a team-best nine birdies over his two rounds, is tied for fifth with two other golfers entering Sunday's final round. He is 10 shots behind individual frontrunner Brannan Hudson of Wofford, who torched the links for a 10-under-par 130 (67-63).

On the strength of Hudson's phenomenal play, Wofford also has the team lead at 5-over-par 565 (284-281). The Terriers established a 7-shot advantage over 10th-ranked South Carolina's 572 (288-284). RU is one stroke behind the Gamecocks at 573 (280-293).

Radford could not have asked for a much better start. Early on, the Highlanders were 6-under-par and had an 8-shot advantage over second-place Wofford. RU eventually finished with an even-par 280, which gave the Highlanders the first-round lead by four shots.

The remaining four Highlanders are all tied for 23rd at 145. Conner Hayden fired rounds of 71 and 74. An eagle on the par-4 ninth highlighted Hayden's day. He holed out from the fairway with a wedge to get to 1-under-par through six holes in his second round.

Ryan Rettberg was steady in his opening 18, rounding the Donald Ross-designed layout with an even-par 70. He returned a 5-over-par 75 in the evening, recording one birdie in the process. Tanner Carbaugh was hot out of the gate, climbing to 3-under-par through 10 holes in his first round. He went on to post rounds of 70 and 75.

Nick Brediger signed for a 72 in his opening 18 and a 73 in his second round. After falling back to 5-over-par through 14 holes in the evening session, Brediger closed with a pair of birdies over his final four holes to end the day on a high note.

Radford is in the final pairing with Wofford and South Carolina off the first tee Sunday morning. Brediger is the first Highlander to go off at 9:50 a.m., while Cochrane is in the final group that tees off at 10:22 a.m.
