RADFORD, Va. – The Radford volleyball team heads to UNC Asheville (Friday at 7 p.m.) and Gardner-Webb (Saturday at 5 p.m.) for a pair of Big South showdowns in the mountains of North Carolina.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
UNC Asheville is coming off a 3-2 setback at Gardner-Webb last Friday in both teams' conference opener. The Bulldogs enter the match with a 3-13 overall record.

Shelby Erickson tops UNC Asheville's offensive output with 2.41 kills per set, while Christine Lakatos delivers 2.38 kills per set. In addition to her hitting, Lakatos is a threat behind the service line. She leads the Big South with her 0.38 aces per set. Katie Davis dishes out 5.02 assists per set, while Madison Vaughn averages one block per set.

Friday's match will break the 25-25 deadlock in the all-time series between RU and the Bulldogs.

SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
After beginning its season with a 1-9 record, Gardner-Webb has won seven of its last nine matches. GWU leads the Big South with 1.39 aces per set, while ranking third in blocks per set (2.24).

Setter Heather Feldman organizes the offense with her 9.35 assists per set. On the defensive side, Anna Pashkova ranks second in the league in digs per set (4.87), while Tyler Cockrell ranks third in blocks per set (1.15).

Radford leads the series with Gardner-Webb, 9-4, which includes a 2-1 record against the Runnin' Bulldogs last season.

The Highlanders (10-6, 0-1 Big South) will look to snap a two-match skid this weekend. Radford continues to be one of the conference's top defensive teams, ranking second in opponent hitting percentage (.172) and ranking third in digs per set (15.85).

Rachel Wiechecki paces the offense with her 3.20 kills per set, while Megan Short ranks second in hitting accuracy (.351). Kelby Jackson anchors the backline with her 3.70 digs per set.

CLIMB TO 100
Marci Jenkins, a two-time Big South coach of the year, earned her 100th victory at Radford in the Highlanders' 3-0 sweep of UNC Wilmington. Since her arrival in 2008, RU has won a Big South regular-season and tournament title, qualified for the NCAA tournament, and had a Big South player of the year, freshman of the year, tournament MVP and scholar-athlete of the year.

After 10 matches away from the Dedmon Center, the Highlanders finally return to their home court for a pair of matches next weekend. Radford is set to face High Point (Friday at 7 p.m.) and Campbell (Saturday at 4 p.m.).
