PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS FUEL TEAM VICTORY OVER GARDNER-WEBB

RADFORD, Va. – Rachel Wiechecki delivered her first 20-20 match of the season, while two other Highlanders posted personal accomplishments to lead the Radford volleyball team to a 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-22) Big South victory Friday night inside the Dedmon Center.

RU improves to 21-7 overall and 11-2 in conference play. On the strength of its four-set win, Radford clinches at least a share of the Big South regular-season title. The team can win it outright Saturday against UNC Asheville. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be preceded by Senior Day festivities.

Wiechecki's 20 kills and 23 digs sparked the Highlanders' comeback after dropping the opening frame. She has 21 double-doubles on the season, which tie her single-season record from a season ago.

With her dig total, Wiechecki climbed into the No. 2 position on the all-time rally-scoring list for digs. The senior has 1,386, which surpassed Lauren Clary's 1,378. Former teammate Katelyn Meeks holds the top spot at 1,506.

In addition to Wiechecki, Jena Braden posted a career-high 60 assists. She managed an offense that hit .294 on the night. Megan Short blasted a career-high 16 kills on the right side, hitting at a .290 clip. Maddie Palmer tied her season high, hammering 15 kills at a .293 rate.

Kelby Jackson joined Wiechecki in double-digit digs with 11. Radford recorded 58 digs as a team. The critical differential was kills. RU peppered 65 winners on the Gardner-Webb side of the net, compared to just 48 from the Runnin' Bulldogs (12-19, 5-8 Big South). Radford also held its opponent to .193 on the attack.

Brianna Starr paced a trio of players from Gardner-Webb in double-figure kills with 13. Defensive standout Anna Pashkova tallied a match-high 29 digs to anchor the Runnin' Bulldogs' backline. Heather Feldman ended the contest with 44 assists.
