VOLLEYBALL DOWNS CAMPBELL IN STRAIGHT SETS, EARNS DATE IN BSC SEMIFINALS

CONWAY, S.C. – Rachel Wiechecki recorded her 23rd double-double of the season to guide the top-seeded Radford volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-16) victory Thursday afternoon over No. 8 seed Campbell in the quarterfinals of the Big South tournament inside The HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.

With the win, the Highlanders (23-7) advance to Friday's semifinal match against the winner of No. 4 seed Winthrop and No. 5 seed Presbyterian. Opening serve is set for 4:30 p.m.

Wiechecki put down 10 kills and added 16 digs, while Maddie Palmer swung .222 on her way to 10 kills as well. Savannah Cantrell narrowly missed double-figure kills, blasting nine at a .471 clip. Jena Braden tossed out 36 assists. On the defensive side, Kelby Jackson joined Wiechecki in double-digit digs with 13.

RU hit .254 as a team, while holding the Camels (14-18) to .121. Perhaps more impressively, the Highlanders racked up more digs (54-51) than Campbell, which entered the match as the top-ranked team in the league in digs.

Jenny Tait and Ali Harty each recorded six kills to pace the Camels' offense. Tait also had a match-high three blocks. Mary Crema and Alexis Hein notched 15 and 11 digs, respectively.
