GREEN ECLIPSES 1,500 CAREER POINTS, RU FALLS AT GEORGETOWN

|

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Javonte Green scored 15 points to lead Radford (5-4) and became the fifth Highlander to reach the 1,500-point plateau for his career in Saturday's 76-49 loss at Georgetown (6-3). Green stands at 1,501 career points and is also two shy of the RU career rebound mark (843) and three short of the steals record (189). The loss snapped RU's three-game winning streak.

Radford led 11-9 through the first six minutes of the game, but the Hoyas answered with a 20-5 run to end the half before Rashun Davis dropped in a runner at the first half buzzer. Georgetown held the Highlanders to a season halftime low 18 points and carried a 29-18 advantage into the lockerroom.

"I thought we did some things well in the first 10 minutes of the game," Radford head coach Mike Jones said. "Even though we struggled to score after that, we ran our stuff and got some good looks, they just didn't drop. We just had a couple mental mistakes later in the half that allowed Georgetown to stretch the lead."

The lid remained on the basket for RU in the second half. GU opened the half with a 7-0 run to extend the lead to 18 (36-18), and Radford did not hit its first field goal of the half until Green laid in a layup at the 13:05 mark. By then, the Hoyas had put the game out of reach with a 30-point lead at 52-22.

"We got frustrated in the second half by our inability to score on offense," Jones said. "That frustration affected our defensive effort and our intensity overall."

Davis added 12 points and a team-high four assists for RU. Green and Kyle Noreen each grabbed six rebounds to lead the Highlanders.  Green now has 843 career caroms, which is two behind Chris Oliver's (2003-07) school record of 845. He also recorded a steal on Saturday to log his 189th, which trails Rod Cousin's (1984-88) 192 and Amir Johnson's (2006-10) 190.

Georgetown dominated the glass with a 39-24 edge and the Hoya bench outscored RU 42-7 in the contest.

Radford, which has played seven of its nine games this season away from the Dedmon Center, will open a five-game homestand Tuesday vs. Johnson & Wales.
