RADFORD ACHIEVES MILESTONE NIGHT IN 76-60 TRIUMPH AT GARDNER-WEBB

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Led by veterans Aisha Foy, Jordynn Gaymon and Ayana Avery, Radford erupted for a season-high 76 points in a 76-60 victory over Gardner-Webb in Big South women's basketball action Tuesday night inside Paul Porter Arena.

The three upperclassmen accounted for 54 of the Highlanders' 76 points en route to their first Big South win of the season and the 650th in program history.

"It's exciting for this group and our staff to be a part of the 650th win," head coach Mike McGuire pointed out. "That's a lot of wins. That has to rank a good ways up there in Division I. Overall, this was a great night for our program. It's always important to get a conference win on the road, especially against a team like Gardner-Webb who is really good at home."

Radford (4-8, 1-2 Big South) shot 50 percent from the floor for the second time this season on its way to handing GWU just its second loss at home. The Runnin' Bulldogs, who shot 36.4 percent, fell to 4-9 overall and 0-4 in the Big South.

"This was a great team win," McGuire acknowledged. "I thought we executed the game plan pretty well. I really liked the leadership from our veteran players today—Aisha had a tremendous game, Jordynn had a double-double and Ayana came up with clutch shots down the stretch. I'm just proud of the little things we took care of today. There was a lot of growth from certain players that was very good to see."

Coming off a season-high 14 points against Virginia Tech, Foy continued to blossom by dropping in a career-high 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting. The junior guard knocked down all six of her free throws while playing all but three minutes of the game. She joined Avery as the only Highlanders to eclipse the 20-point plateau this season.

Gaymon nearly accomplished that feat by delivering a career-high 19 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Her effort marked the sixth double-double recorded by a Highlander in 12 games.

Rounding out Radford's double-figure scorers was Avery, who tallied 10 points to become the 21st member of the program's 1,000-point club. Avery and Foy combined for all five of the Highlanders' 3-pointers. RU shot 41.7 percent from long range—the team ranked second in the Big South in 3-point field goal percentage entering the night.

A major factor in the game was Radford's rebounding. The Highlanders outrebounded the second-ranked rebounding team in the league, 42-32. Gardner-Webb became RU's third opponent to be outrebounded by double digits. In addition to their rebounding, the Highlanders made a living in the paint, outscoring GWU, 46-22.

Alexus Hill led four Runnin' Bulldogs in double figures with 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Kiera Currie (12), Olivia Parker (10) and Jessica Heilig (10) also reached double digits. Gardner-Webb hit just 57.7 percent of its free-throw attempts (15-26).

Radford has nearly one week to prepare for its next opponent, Charleston Southern, which invades the Dedmon Center, Monday at 7 p.m., for a Big South clash.
