MEN’S TENNIS OPENS BIG SOUTH PLAY THIS WEEKEND

RADFORD, Va. – After opening its season against a pair of nationally-ranked men's tennis programs in the northeast, Radford travels the other direction this weekend as the Highlanders begin Big South competition Saturday at 1 p.m. in Clinton, S.C. against Presbyterian College. RU wraps up its two-match trip Sunday in Boiling Springs, N.C. with a 1 p.m. dual against Gardner-Webb.

SCOUTING THE BLUE HOSE
Winners of five straight, PC enters Saturday's league opener 7-1 on the season. The Blue Hose's lone loss came against 23rd-ranked Clemson on Jan. 19, which was the team's spring opener. PC is coming off a doubleheader sweep of Richmond and Davidson last Saturday.

Grayson Mills, an All-Big South performer last season, has played all his matches at the top of the singles lineup for the Blue Hose, going 5-2. A pair of freshmen has made an immediate impact for PC as Diego Manzanas and Ben Kelley are both 6-1 thus far. Manzanas enters Saturday on a five-match winning streak.

PC ended at 21-10 last season, accumulating its most wins in program history. In addition, the Blue Hose finished as the Big South tournament runner-up for the second year in a row. Radford defeated PC, 4-0, in the 2012 championship match.

SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
Gardner-Webb is 2-4 entering this week, but is scheduled to play three matches in three days beginning Friday at 4 p.m. vs. Furman. Its two wins have come against Division II opponents. The Runnin' Bulldogs may be one of the youngest programs in the nation. Only one senior is listed on the roster, which features eight underclassmen.

UP NEXT
Radford returns to action in a couple weekends when the Highlanders collide with Kennesaw State (March 1) and Eastern Kentucky (March 2) in Richmond, Ky.
