BIG INNING FOR MISSOURI DOOMS RADFORD

BOX SCORE WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Missouri scored 10 times in the sixth inning Friday en route to a 15-3 win over Radford in the opening game of the Wake Forest Invitational held at Gene Hooks Field.

Trailing 5-0 after three innings, Radford clawed its way back into the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth. Chris Coia extended his hitting streak to a career best tying six games with a two-out single, and scored on a Josh Reavis base hit. Patrick Marshall also drove in a run with a single, and the Highlanders seemed right back in the game.

Missouri answered in the top of the next inning with 10 runs on six hits and the game was never in question again.

Michael Boyle (0-2) took the loss in his second start of the season. He was lifted after 2.1 innings giving up seven hits and five runs, four earned. Boyle struck out four without a walk.

Kyle Zurak, Kyle Palmer, and Collin Hill all eventually made their collegiate debuts on the mound as head coach Joe Raccuia used six pitchers overall. James Woods and Tyler Swarmer also made relief appearances.

Alexander Lee added two more hits on the season and pushed his average to .474. Coia was 2-4 with a run scored and is now batting .462 on the season.

With the loss, Radford dropped its third straight game and fell to 1-4 on the season. RU faces Cincinnati at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Gene Hooks Field.
