MEN’S TENNIS EDGED BY CAMPBELL, 4-3

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis team won the doubles point for the first time this season, but was unable to hold off Campbell in the end as the Camels earned a 4-3 Big South win Thursday afternoon at the Radford University Tennis Complex.

After dropping the No. 1 double match, the Highlanders (1-9, 1-2 Big South) reeled off victories at the second and third flights to secure the 1-0 edge. Nicholas Sayer and Joe Mills improved to 2-0 when paired together, taking down Fernando Guillen and Rik Van Gerwen (8-4) at No. 2.

Patrick O'Keefe and Javier Waase delivered the decisive decision by outlasting Marthinus Visser and Jean-Marc Krone, 8-7 (7-1), on court three.

Campbell (8-4, 3-0 Big South) won the first two singles bouts to burst ahead, 2-1. Janken Thoen provided the equalizer with his 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Steven Billington at No. 6 singles. The Camels went ahead once more by earning a crucial point at the top flight.

However, O'Keefe responded for Radford with his 6-4, 7-5 victory over Visser at the second spot to tie the dual at 3. Adrien Rossignon was able to nip Mills in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 7-5) to capture the road win for Campbell.

The Highlanders will look to get on track Saturday when they battle Coastal Carolina at noon at the Radford University Tennis Complex.
