MEN’S TENNIS SENDS SENIORS OFF IN STYLE

RADFORD, Va. – Celebrating Senior Day, the Radford men's tennis team evened its conference record Saturday afternoon by dominating UNC Asheville, 6-1, at the Radford University Tennis Complex.

Nicholas Sayer and Joe Mills won for the fourth-straight time as the Highlanders' No. 2 pair by downing Will Goldberg and Alex Croker, 8-3. Patrick O'Keefe and Nico Ascarrunz clinched the doubles point at the third flight with their 8-6 triumph over Josh Swindler and Daniel Kripak.

Javier Waase delivered the first singles point for Radford (7-12, 4-4 Big South) at the sixth spot where he defeated Reid Dillon (6-1, 6-2). After the Bulldogs (7-14, 1-7 Big South) got one back on court five, O'Keefe ousted Croker (6-3, 7-5) in the second slot to improve to 6-1 in Big South competition.

Following a convincing 6-1 triumph in the first set, Sayer had to fight off a pesky Daniel Kripak (7-5) in the second stanza to clinch the decision for the Highlanders. The senior moved to 17-9 on the season thanks to his fourth-straight win.

Mills followed his classmate's lead with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over John Schubel at No. 3 singles. With the win, Mills (16-10) carries a seven-match winning streak into next week's conference championship.

Janken Thoen preserved the shutout by battling back from a set-down deficit to prevail (1-6, 6-4, 6-4) over Swindler on court four.

Radford will await its seeding for next week's Big South men's tennis championship, which will be contested at Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C.
