RADFORD SETS PROGRAM WINS RECORD AT COCA-COLA INVITATIONAL

ROUND 3

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
Four Radford men's golfers finished under-par to lift the Highlanders to a fourth-place showing at Wofford's Coca-Cola Invitational at the conclusion of Tuesday's final round at the par 72, 6,648-yard The Country Club of Spartanburg.

In addition to its seventh Top 5 of the season, Radford broke the program wins record, which was set by the 2012-13 team. The Highlanders have beaten 112 teams this season, breaking the 106 mark from a year ago.

Conner Hayden guided the Radford contingent with his 5-under-par 211 (72-69-70). It was his best 54-hole score as a Highlander, which tied him for 14th. He recorded five birdies during his final 18 holes, including three on holes 1-6.

Also tallying five birdies Tuesday was Callum Tarren, who signed for Radford's best round of the day (3-under-par 69). The senior tied for 16th at 4-under-par 212 (69-74-69).

Like Hayden, Nick Brediger notched his collegiate-best 54-hole ledger in Spartanburg. The Roanoke, Va. native was steady all three rounds en route to a 3-under-par 213 (71-71-71), which tied for 21st.

Ryan Rettberg finished under-par in a 54-hole tournament for the first time in his career. After opening with a 4-under-par 68 in the first round, Rettberg added rounds of 74 and 73 to close at 1-under-par 215 and tie for 26th. Tanner Carbaugh tied for 36th at 1-over-par 217 (72-74-71). Competing as an individual, Conner Lewis also tied for 36th at 1-over-par 217 (68-75-74).

Thanks to Tuesday's best round (12-under-par 276), Lamar (833) nipped Elon (837) by four shots for the team title. Wofford claimed third at 840, nine shots ahead of the Highlanders' 849. RU finished four swings clear of No. 50 TCU and Appalachian State.

Elon's John Somers won the individual title with his 10-under-par 206 (65-68-73). Five golfers tied for second at 8-under-par 208.

Radford returns to the Palmetto State next weekend for the 2014 Big South Men's Golf Championship, which will be contested Monday-Wednesday in Ninety Six, S.C. Once again, The Patriot Golf Club will serve as the host site.
