HIGHLANDERS SWEEP BULLDOGS FOR 30TH WIN OF THE SEASON

BOX SCORE ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Radford completed a three-game sweep of UNC Asheville on Sunday, 11-6. The win was the fifth straight for the Highlanders and moves them one win from tying the school record of 31 with a 30-19 overall record and a 15-9 mark in the Big South's North Division. Patrick Marshall (2-4) drove in four runs to tie for the RBI lead in the conference with 44.

Marshall's productive day started in the first after Josh Gardiner led off the game with a single and plated on the first of two base hits by the Highlander left-fielder. Marshall drove in two more with a double in the second inning. His run-scoring ground out in the fourth tied the game 6-6 before RU again rallied in the later innings to seal the game.

Gardiner (2-2) reached base in all six plate appearances and scored four times for Radford. He added his 11th double of the season, walked three times, and was hit by a pitch. Blake Sipe (3-3) reached base in all five of his plate appearances and scored two runs.

RU broke the tie in the fifth when Zach Woolcock led off with a double and came in to score on a wild pitch. The Highlanders added another run in the sixth on a sac fly by Woolcock. Alexander Lee drove in a pair of runs with a single in the seventh, and Brad Keen's base hit drove in the final run in the ninth. Shane Johnsonbaugh (2-5) and Lee (2-5) also finished with multi-hit games for RU.

Daniel Bridgeman (3-1) logged 4.1 innings in relief of Tyler Swarmer to earn the victory. Bridgeman gave up one run on two hits after Swarmer was tagged for five runs in 2.1 innings.

UNC Asheville (13-36, 4-19) wass led offensively by Robert McIntosh, who went 2-5 with three runs driven in. Spencer Orr (0-1) took the loss in relief of starter Corey Randall.
