O’KEEFE, WAASE NAMED MEN’S TENNIS CAPTAINS

RADFORD, Va. – Head coach Mike Anderson, who is entering his 19th season guiding the Radford men's tennis program, announced Tuesday afternoon seniors Patrick O'Keefe and Javier Waase will be the squad's captains for the upcoming 2014-15 campaign.

"Patrick and Javier are two outstanding young men who will provide great leadership to our team," Anderson said. "Those two have made huge strides in their respective careers and have earned this opportunity."

O'Keefe boasted a 6-1 Big South record at the No. 2 singles position last spring, which helped the Salem, Va. native garner flight champion honors. He was also selected as an all-conference performer in singles, finishing the year on a five-match win streak.

Waase made eight singles appearances during the 2014 dual season, finishing 3-5. In doubles, Waase finished 2-2 at the top flight.

Anderson also announced former men's tennis standout Nicholas Sayer will be joining his coaching staff as an assistant coach.

"I am thankful Nicholas decided to assist our program in a coaching role," Anderson expressed. "This year's team will be the largest (12) I have ever had at Radford. For me to have an assistant of high-caliber, like Nicholas, is very beneficial to our program."

Sayer ended his career this past spring with the third-most singles victories (88) in program history. In addition, he claimed numerous honors as a Highlander:

The Highlanders open their fall tournament schedule Sept. 12-14 at Duke's Fab Four Invitational in Cary, N.C.
