NATIONALLY-RANKED PROGRAMS AWAIT CROSS COUNTRY AT VIRGINIA TECH

Radford's cross-country teams head to Virginia Tech on Friday, Sept. 19 for their second meet of the season after recently returning from Boiling Springs, N.C. Taking place on the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course, the women's race is a 6k and begins at 6:00 p.m., while the men will take to the course at 6:40 p.m. for the 8k.

The Highlanders had a strong showing in the Gardner-Webb Invite after the men placed 4th and the women's team placed 5th, respectively. Freshman Brady Guertin led the way for RU in the men's race, coming in 21st with a time of 27:21.48. Fellow classmate Jacob Black was the next Highlander to finish with a time of 27:43 which allowed him to finish 25th. The men's team as a whole combined for 122 points as five of the eight competitors finished between 21st and 30th.

Red-shirt senior Katie Hickey and senior Teresa Williamson led the way for the Highlanders with 16th and 17th place finishes, respectively. Hickey posted a 20:09.29 with Williamson close behind with a time of 20:09.50.

The Virginia Tech Alumni Invite will consist of several nationally-ranked opponents, including the hosts as the Hokies women's squad is ranked 22nd. Florida State comes in to the meet ranked 6th. 19th ranked North Carolina and 25th ranked Florida State will be just two of Radford's opponents in the men's race.
