RADFORD, Va. ---- The Radford track and field team travels to Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., for the Thundering Herd Invite on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31.
Competition will open Friday at 6 p.m. with the men's and women's pole vault, the men's long jump, the men's and women's weight throw and then the 5,000-meter run.
On Saturday, the remaining field events will be held starting at 9 a.m., with track events starting at noon. The 4x400-meter relay will conclude the meet at approximately 5 p.m.
Cara Myrtle has led the Highlanders in three events this indoor season. Myrtle turned a 42.08 300-meter dash at the Virginia Tech Invite on Jan. 17 and a 59.49 400-meter dash at the Hokie Invite on Jan. 24.
In mid-distance, Katie Hickey has recorded Radford season bests in the 800m and 1,000m. Hickey's 2:21.39 in the 800-meter run last weekend at the Hokie Invite was good enough to win the second heat and take sixth overall.
Shania Williams and Ashlen Veatch lead the Red and White in the throws. Williams is the lone Highlander to earn Big South Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors, tallying a mark of 13.78m (45-02.50) in the shot put at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invite on Dec. 4. Veatch has a season long of 16.92m (55-06.25) in the weight throw, also coming at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invite.
Based on the season's current times, Radford sits fourth in the Big South standings.
