RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's and women's cross country teams both return to action on Friday as they compete in the Wake Forest Invitational in Kernersville, N.C. The men's 8K race is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m., followed by the women's 6K at 5:15.
Â
The meet features a strong 25-school field that includes 11 teams (five men's and six women's) ranked among the top 15 in the Southeast Region. Radford will also be joined there by Big South foes High Point, Coastal Carolina, UNC Asheville and Charleston Southern.
Â
The Highlander men are coming off their best performance of the season at last weekend's Royals XC Challenge. Jacob Black was one of three RU runners to post their fastest times of the campaign and Radford placed second among Big South teams. Black has led the Highlanders in both of his completed races while clocking personal bests each time.
Â
The Radford women, meanwhile, will be competing for the first time since Sept. 26. Friday's meet represents the final races for both squads before the Big South Championships, which are set for Oct. 31.
