HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Megan Short striped a career-high 22 kills at a .486 clip, but Winthrop was able to outlast Radford, 3-2, in Big South volleyball action inside Winthrop Coliseum, Friday night.
  • Three of the five sets went into extra points, including the final two stanzas.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Radford fell to 2-5 in five-set matches, while the Eagles earned their first five-set victory of the season.
  • Despite dropping the fourth set, 28-26, the Highlanders hit an impressive .409.
  • Savanna Burton charted her 12th double-double of the season (11 kills, 12 digs).
  • Freshmen Amaya Rousseau (11 kills, five blocks) and Katherine Young (10 kills, .368 attack clip) had sensational outings.
  • Cheyanne James' seven kills on the night moved her into fifth place all-time at Radford in career kills for the rally scoring era (733).
  • Kaylor Nash led four Highlanders in double-figure digs with 20. It was her third 20-dig match of the season.
  • Haley Kleespies eclipsed the 50-assist plateau for the fifth time in her freshman campaign.
  • Nikki Drost contributed a double-double (19 kills, 16 digs) for the Eagles.
  • Madilyn McCarty engineered the offense behind her 60 assists.
