Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

RADFORD EDGED BY CAMPBELL IN OVERTIME, 3-2

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Radford women's soccer team's tough luck continued as host Campbell scored early in the first overtime period to claim a 3-2 win in Big South Conference play Sunday night.

Hannah Duff and Asyia Mitchell scored goals to give the Highlanders (5-7, 0-4) a pair of one-goal leads. However, Campbell (8-4, 3-1) came back to tie it on both occasions and force extra time before getting the game-winner in the 91st minute. It was Radford's third overtime defeat of the season and the fourth setback by just one goal, including three in conference play.

Duff opened the scoring in the 14th minute as she put a strike from 22 yards out into the upper right corner of the net for her second tally of the season and fifth of her career.

Campbell tied the game just over six minutes into the second half but Mitchell put the Highlanders back in front in the 69th minute. She outbattled the Fighting Camels' goalkeeper for a loose ball outside the box and finished into the empty net. It was also her second goal of the year and the ninth of her career.

Campbell leading scorer Ashley Clark then notched her conference-best 11th goal of the year to even the score at 2-2 in the 73rd minute. Clark later assisted on the overtime goal by Shannon Wratchford on a shot to the top right corner.

"We played extremely hard today and scored a couple of nice goals," Radford head coach Ben Sohrabi said. "We had the lead twice. The next step is to hold it for 90 minutes."

Katie McCormick recorded six saves for Radford. Campbell finished with a 19-6 shot advantage, although the Highlanders had three corner kicks compared to just one for the Fighting Camels. Mitchell led RU with three shots.

The Highlanders will play the last of three straight road matches on Wednesday as they travel to Longwood for a 7 p.m. game.
