GAME INFORMATION
  • Score: Xavier 63, Radford 56
  • Records: Radford (3-4) | Xavier (6-2)
  • Location: Cintas Center | Cincinnati, Ohio

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore forward Janayla White collected her second consecutive double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds), but Radford could not overcome a strong fourth quarter by Xavier in a 63-56 non-conference women's basketball loss Wednesday night at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
  • Xavier finished the final three minutes of the game going 7 for 8 from the charity stripe.
  • Back-to-back 3-pointers by Aisha Foy tied the contest at 49 to start the fourth quarter. The Musketeers answered Foy's 3-pointers with seven straight points, taking a 56-49 advantage with 3:40 to go in regulation.
  • RU cut the lead to 39-37 with 5:48 remaining in the third quarter on two layups by Gaby Gilmore.
  • After falling behind for the first time, Xavier closed out the second quarter on a 12-9 run, behind five points by Raeshaun Gaffney.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Janayla White's sixth career double-double paced four Highlanders in double-figure scoring.
  • Jayda Worthy (11 points), Gaby Gilmore (10 points) and Aisha Foy (10 points) rounded out the Radford offense.
  • Gilmore grabbed a season-high eight rebounds, with six coming in the first half.
  • Foy continued her hot 3-point shooting on the road, finishing 2 for 5. In road contests, Foy is 9 of 17 from downtown.
  • Jen Falconer dished out a career-high six assists, giving her 26 on the season.
  • Radford outrebounded Xavier, 34-31, holding the BIG EAST's third-ranked rebounding defense below their season average of 42.9.
  • This is the first win for Xavier in which they were outrebounded by an opponent.
  • Aliyah Zantt led the Musketeers with a game-high 17 points. Raeshaun Gaffney followed with 16 points and Briana Glover finished with 12 points.
  • The Highlanders put together one of their better free-throw shooting performances on the road, finishing 7 for 11 from the charity stripe.
  • Xavier connected on 11 of 12 from the free-throw line, including a 4 for 4 clip from Zantt and a 5 of 6 performance from Gaffney.
  • Radford's road woes continue as all four losses have come on the road, with the last road win coming on Feb. 14, 2015 in a 64-57 win over Charleston Southern in Big South action.

QUOTABLE
  • "I thought we played well for about 35 minutes. We competed hard against a very competitive BIG EAST team. Janayla did a great job on the boards, and we outrebounded one of the top rebounding teams in the BIG EAST. We still have to get better offensively. I thought we had too many possessions in which we didn't get anything. This team is going to get better. There are a lot of things we can take away from this game and improve upon." ~ Radford head coach, Mike McGuire

UP NEXT
  • Radford returns home on Saturday for a non-conference tilt with Concord.
  • Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside the Dedmon Center.
