WILLIAMSON, VEATCH NAMED BIG SOUTH TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

RADFORD, Va. ---- Teresa Williamson and Ashlen Veatch of the Radford track and field team were named the Big South Conference's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, announced the league office Tuesday.

Williamson's weekend at the VT Challenge last Friday night was highlighted by a personal-best time of 4:50.11 in the mile. The effort earned her second place in the meet and tops the Big South Conference this indoor season.

Williamson follow her mile performance with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run, turning in a time of 2:17.62. Her lone 800-meter start this year ranks fourth in the league.

Veatch had a career day in the weight throw at the VT Challenge, recording a personal-best distance of 17.93m (58-10.00). The fourth-place performance beat out her previous career record of 17.14m (56-03.00) set at the Akron Invite on Feb. 7, 2014. Veatch currently ranks third in the Big South Conference in the event.

This is the second and third athlete of the week honors the Highlanders have received this season. Shania Williams was the first to grab the award following her performance in the shot put at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Dec. 3.

Radford travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the 2015 Big South Indoor Championships from Thursday, Feb. 26, to Friday, Feb. 27.
