RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis team will open conference play this weekend at Campbell and Coastal Carolina. The Highlanders will face Campbell, Saturday at 2 p.m., and Coastal Carolina, Sunday at 1 p.m.

RADFORD ROUNDUP
Two weekends ago, the Highlanders finished 1-1 at the VCU 4-1 Invitational hosted by the Rams in Richmond, Va. RU is looking to build off its 4-1 victory over George Mason. Freshman Michiel Meekers clinched that decision with his 6-3, 7-5 triumph at No. 2 singles.

Meekers is one of three freshmen in the lineup for the Highlanders. He has a team-best 7-7 overall ledger in singles play. Team captain Patrick O'Keefe is right behind with his six singles victories.

SCOUTING CAMPBELL
The Camels are 3-5 through their first eight matches of the season. They have not played since a 6-1 triumph over Mount Olive at home. One of Campbell's losses was to then-seventh-ranked North Carolina. On the other hand, two of the Camels' wins have come against Division II opposition.

Nicolas Rakitin has led Campbell thus far, posting a 6-2 record at the No. 2 singles position. Adrien Rossignon and Lorenz Schwab have combined to go 3-0 at No. 3 doubles.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
Through their first seven matches, the Chanticleers have tallied a 5-2 record. Their two losses came against nationally-ranked Virginia Tech and UNC Wilmington. Coastal has earned a victory over a nationally-ranked opponent, defeating then-No. 73 East Carolina, 4-3.

The Chants are set to collide with No. 4 Duke Saturday before squaring off with Radford a day later. Coastal is 3-0 at home this year. The Highlanders upended CCU, 5-2, in last season's only encounter.

UP NEXT
RU is back on the court Saturday, March 7 in Philadelphia, Pa., for a 9 a.m. bout with the University of Pennsylvania.
