MEN’S TENNIS SWEEPS HOWARD, 7-0

WASHINGTON – Radford picked up its first shutout of the season, blanking Howard, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon in nonconference men's tennis action at the Washington Tennis / Education Foundation Complex.

The Highlanders (2-4) prevailed at Nos. 2-3 doubles to earn the early 1-0 edge. Janken Thoen and Jose Moreno Manzano opened the dual with a 6-3 win over Hawkins Owens IV and Nico Sorrell at No. 3 doubles. Michiel Meekers and Nikhil Mannepalli defeated William Jones III and Laguna Foster, Jr., 6-3, on court 2 to clinch the doubles point.

RU did not let up in singles, claiming all six matches to secure the sweep. Patrick O'Keefe clinched the decision at No. 1 singles, taking down Ismael Kaouache in straight sets (6-3, 6-2). It was O'Keefe's third win in a row.

Radford continues its spring break trip Wednesday in West Long Branch, N.J., with a 6 p.m. first serve against Monmouth.
