
AUSTIN TAKES THIRD, RADFORD FOURTH AT MIDDLEBURG BANK INTERCOLLEGIATE

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Sparked by Alexandra Austin's second Top 5 of the season, the Radford women's golf team finished fourth at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate. The Highlanders shot a 311 in Tuesday's final round at the par 72, 5,962-yard Kingsmill Resort Plantation Course.

Austin topped the leaderboard for RU, placing third at 227 (77-76-74)—marking her highest finish of the season. Ironically, her other Top 5 of the season came on this course last fall in the William & Mary Invitational. She tied for fourth in that tournament.

After leading the Highlanders in Monday morning's first round, Olivia Jay returned to the clubhouse with a 234 (75-80-79), which is a career-best, 54-hole ledger for the sophomore. Jay tied for 18th.

Khushboo Thiagaraj finished strongly by having her best round of the tournament, shooting a 77 on Tuesday. The freshman closed at 241 (85-79-77) to tie for 32nd. Larissa Carter tied for 47th at 247 (83-83-81), while Meagan Board tied for 51st at 249 (88-80-81).

By firing the best round of the tournament, Eastern Michigan overtook Delaware for the team title by one shot. Eastern Michigan concluded with a 917 (312-304-301). Delaware (918), William & Mary (921), Radford (946) and Rutgers (956) rounded out the Top 5 of the team standings.

Alessandra Liu led wire-to-wire en route to the individual title. She fired a 219 (72-71-76) to post a six-shot victory over Amanda Terzian of Delaware.

The Highlanders now turn their focus to the 2015 Big South Women's Golf Championship, which will be played April 13-15 at The DeBordieu Club in Georgetown, S.C.
