O’KEEFE PREVAILS AT NO. 1 SINGLES AGAINST NAVY

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Radford senior Patrick O'Keefe defeated his singles opponent at the top flight, but Navy overpowered the Highlanders, 6-1, in nonconference men's tennis action at the Tose Family Tennis Center, Monday night.

"Despite the lopsided score, we gave a great effort and represented our university well against a nationally-recognized program in a hostile environment," head coach Mike Anderson said. "We are going to keep battling and hopefully turn this thing around soon."

The Midshipmen, who have won 12 of their past 14 matches, improved to 13-3 on the season. They captured an early 1-0 advantage by sweeping the doubles portion of the dual.

Radford's only win in singles came from the racquet of O'Keefe, who climbed above .500 on the season with his 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 triumph over Calvin Mark on court 1. Mark entered the day with a 6-3 record at the No. 1 singles position. O'Keefe improved to 3-2 through five matches at the top flight after earning his second straight victory.

The Highlanders (1-4) return to the court Tuesday, March 10 for a 12 p.m. matchup with Howard in the nation's capital.
