RADFORD, Va. ---- Radford will have to quickly comeback from Tuesday night's losses to N.C. State at the Radford Softball Stadium as they make the trip to Blacksburg, Va., on Wednesday to battle Virginia Tech. The Highlanders dropped the doubleheader to the Wolfpack, 11-0, 17-0.

Nia Chiles went 1-2 on the day with her lone hit a double in game two. Becky Mantel broke up N.C. State's no hitter in the fourth inning with a single hit up the middle. Mackenzie Blackwell finished the doubleheader 1-4.

Kelsey Weddle started game one for Radford, throwing three innings and surrendering six runs on five hits. Taylor Asimakopoulos came in as relief in the fourth inning, holding the Wolfpack scoreless in the side. Asimakopoulos gave up five runs on five hits in the game.

Tiffany Brown was given the ball in game two, facing nine batters before being pulled in favor of Asimakopoulos. Brown would later return in the fourth inning to close out the game. She threw a total of 2.1 innings, giving up seven earned runs on six hits. Asimakopoulos saw four runs score before Weddle entered the contest for 2.2 innings of work.

:: Game 1 :: 5 Innings
N.C. State 11 :: Radford 0

After reaching first base on walks, Meredith Burroughs and Molly Hutchison put N.C. State on the board first, scoring on a single by Lana Van Dyken in the top of the first inning.

The deficit for Radford grew in the second when the Wolfpack loaded the bases on a double, single and walk. Molly Hutchison looked at ball four to bring one runner home and put N.C. State up 3-0.

In the third, an error and single put two on the base path for the Wolfpack's Renada Davis. Davis put N.C. State in front 6-0 on a home run hit to centerfield.

The Highlanders held the Wolfpack scoreless in the fourth inning before giving up five more tallies in the fifth. Three hits to start the frame and two extra base hits brought around five more runs to end the game at 11-0.

:: Game 2 :: 5 Innings
NC State 17 :: Radford 0

Part two of the doubleheader was busted open in the top of the first inning by N.C. State. Twelve runs came across for the Wolfpack on nine hits. Three doubles and a trio of free bases off two walks and a hit by pitch powered the offensive surge.

Radford's defense settled down though an inning later, forcing N.C. State into a 1-2-3 second frame.

With the Highlanders unable to engineer any runs across, the Wolfpack added to its lead in the third with a pair of solo home runs to go ahead 14-0.

A leadoff homer by N.C. State in the fifth, coupled by three singles would score one runner and allow the bases to be loaded for Hutchison to look at ball four and score the game's final run.
