WILLIAMSON NAMED BIG SOUTH’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

RADFORD, Va. ---- Teresa Williamson of the Radford track and field team has been named the Big South Conference's Track Athlete of the Week. Williamson bettered her school records over the weekend in the 800 meters and 1,500-meter run at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va.

Williamson led the Highlanders on April 17 at the Virginia Challenge, running a personal-best 2:10.15 in the 800-meter run. She paces the league in the event by more than a second. Williamson's previous career best was a 2:10.83 clocked at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational on April 5, 2014.

Williamson continued her career weekend on April 18, setting another lifetime best, this time in the 1,500-meter run. Running against some the nation's top competition, Williamson turned in a 4:30.40 to take second in her heat. She is second in the Big South in the discipline. Williamson's previous best was a 4:31.65 ran on April 12, 2014, at the Mason Spring Invite.

This is the first outdoor league honor Radford has received this season. The Highlanders took home two field athlete of the week honors as Williamson represented the one track athlete of the week award in the indoor season
