O’KEEFE WINS 12TH STRAIGHT, MEN’S TENNIS BLANKS HAMPTON

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis team recorded its fourth sweep of the season, defeating Hampton, 7-0, Thursday afternoon at the Radford University Tennis Complex.

All three doubles matches went to the Highlanders (8-8) as they only dropped a combined eight games in the three decisions. Michiel Meekers and Nikhil Mannepalli paired up for an 8-1 victory over Gary Faulcon and Joshua McQueen on court three.

Janken Thoen and Samuel Taylor clinched the 1-0 edge for Radford with their 8-3 triumph over Peter Odegbami and Fedor Shirin at No. 2 doubles. Patrick O'Keefe and Jose Moreno Manzano delivered the doubles sweep at the top flight, taking down Miguel Suarez and Luke Thompson, 8-4.

Thoen increased the RU advantage to 2-0 following his 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles over Shirin. Taylor and O'Keefe captured the team decision for the Highlanders with their wins on courts six and one, respectively. O'Keefe's victory was his 12^th straight, which improved his dual record to 13-2 for the spring.

Meekers and Mannepalli completed the Radford sweep as the duo both won in straight sets. Meekers' victory was his seventh straight, which improved his singles record to 7-1 at the No. 3 position.

The Highlanders return to the courts Saturday at 10 a.m. when they host Gardner-Webb for Senior Day. O'Keefe and Javier Waase will be honored prior to the Big South showdown.
