RADFORD, Va. ---- Teresa Williamson bettered her school record in the 800-meter run once again, clocking a 2:08.72 at the Tennessee Challenge in Knoxville, Tenn., on Saturday. Williamson's third-place finish led the Highlanders to several top-five performances in their final meet before league championships.

Williamson's career best led the group of five Radford runners that raced the 800 meters at the Tennessee Challenge. Williamson opened her 2:08.72 with a first 400-meter split of 1:02.64. Malina Richardson clocked a 2:18.33 as teammate Katie Hickey finished two spots back with a time of 2:18.76. Denaya Wolterding ran a personal-best 2:23.24 and Chandra Goodson finished in 2:25.54.

Ashlen Veatch opened the day with Radford's first top-10 finish of the meet. Veatch notched a long of 56.54m (185-06) in the hammer throw to take seventh and smash her previous best of 53.28m set back in 2013. Her performance today places her No. 38 on the East Qualifying List, with the top 48 at the end of conference championships heading to the NCAA Prelims. Naihla Rose-Delia's mark of 46.47m (152-05) would take 16th and also set a new career best.
The Highlanders opened the running events with a fifth-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay. Jessica Shelton, Shantel Jones, Reanna Hamm and Danyelle McDaniel combined for a time of 48.89.

Jones would return to the track later in the day for the open 100-meter dash, taking 15th with a time of 12.66 to tie her season-best time set at the Phoenix Invite.

In the meet's final event, the team of Hamm, McDaniel, Cara Myrtle and Ckareekeea Branch turned in a fifth-place performance with a time of 3:58.56 in the 4x400-meter relay.

Rose-Delia's best finish on the day came in the shot put where she took fifth with a distance of 12.38m (40-07.50).

As the lone Highlander in the 1,500-meter run, Richardson clocked a 4:48.11 to take 13th and best her career best of 4:49.89.

Myrtle earned another top-15 finish for Radford, racing to a 13th-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.40.

The Highlanders will take next week off in preparation for the 2015 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships in High Point, N.C., from May 14-16.
