SCORING SUMMARY

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Freshmen Finn Tiedemann and Sivert Daehlie erased an early 1-0 deficit for the Highlanders by netting their first collegiate goals to carry Radford to the 2-1 victory.
  • Daehlie, who scored twice during exhibition play, delivered the game-winner in the 71st minute off a cross from Sergio Arzubiaga. Daehlie headed in the Arzubiaga cross from the right wing.
  • Tiedemann scored the equalizer in the 43rd minute by redirecting a Felix Steinhauser pass into the bottom-left corner of the goal.
  • Dayton gained a 1-0 advantage via an RU own goal.

QUOTABLE
  • "This was an incredibly tough-fought first game with two teams giving all they could on opening day. Dayton is a talented and well-coached group that I am sure will have a great season. For us to find a way to get the win is obviously great. We have a ton to work on in all areas, and Aitor [Pouseu Blanco] had to make some great saves to get this result. I thought both our goals were well-worked by Felix [Steinhauser] and Sergio [Arzubiaga], respectively, and the two guys took their chances well. We must now ensure we do all we can to turn around for another tough challenge on Sunday." ~ Radford head coach Marc Reeves
