SCORING SUMMARY

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A header goal by freshman forward Sivert Daehlie proved to be enough for the Radford men's soccer team to edge Marshall, 1-0, Tuesday night at Cupp Stadium.
  • Daehlie found the back of the net for the third time this season when Fraser Colmer connected with the freshman on a corner kick in the 34th minute.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • RU improved to 5-4-2 all-time against the Thundering Herd.
  • It was head coach Marc Reeves' first victory against Marshall.
  • Seven of Radford's 12 goals scored this season are by underclassmen.
  • Daehlie's goal was the fourth scored off a corner this season and third straight.
  • Daehlie, who launched a team-high four shots, took over the team lead in points with six (three goals).
  • Aitor Pouseu Blanco registered his ninth career shutout (second of the season), while making three saves.
  • Both teams took 11 shots. It was the first time this season the Highlanders did not lead in that category.

QUOTABLE
  • "This was a tight game against a very good Marshall team. We had to be a little conservative in the first half, but I think we had some great chances to extend the lead in the second half that we were unlucky not to see go in. We had strong performances from many players and getting a shutout against a team of this level is great. We now move into conference play where every game is vital to prepare correctly and be ready to perform at max levels." ~ Radford head coach, Marc Reeves

UP NEXT
