NO. 25 RADFORD DROPS FIRST BIG SOUTH MATCH IN 1-0 LOSS AT HPU

HIGH POINT, N.C.  – No. 25 Radford dropped its first Big South match of the season, falling 1-0 to High Point as the Highlanders were shutout for the first time in league play since Oct. 31, 2015.
 
The lone goal of the match came in the 19th minute as Jon Bolanos dribbled along the edge of the back, chipping Aitor Pouseu Blanco. The Bolanos goal came off a counter-attack pass from Siggi Benonysson.
 
Radford's only shot in the first half came in the 26th minute off the boot of Jakob Strandsäter.
 
The Panthers held a 6-1 shot advantage at the half. In the second half, Radford outshot the Panthers 11-6.
 
Radford opened the second half with three shots in the first six minutes as an Evan Szklennik header missed just high in the 52nd minute.
 
Szklennik would take three shots on goal in the half, but was unable to shake Keegan Meyer between the pipes.

  • With the loss, Radford stands in a tie for first place with High Point and Presbyterian.
  • Radford has only been held scoreless twice on the season.
  • The last time the Highlanders were shutout in Big South play came in a 0-0 decision at No. 10 Coastal Carolina on Halloween 2015.
  • Evan Szklennik took six of Radford's 12 shots in the match, three coming on goal.
  • Jakob Strandsäter finished with three shots.
  • Taylor Martin had the other shot on goal for the Highlanders.
  • The Jon Bolanos first half goal was his fourth of the season.
