ROBERTS TALLIES THIRD GOAL IN LAST FIVE GAMES IN WIN AT LONGWOOD

FARMVILLE, Va.  –  Kieran Roberts tallied his third goal in the last five matches, giving Radford its fifth win in Big South play with a 1-0 decision over Longwood, Wednesday evening.
 
Radford took three shots in the opening 20 minutes of the match, including two off the boot of Roberts.
 
In the 26th minute, the Highlanders were fouled just in front of the right side of the box. Fraser Colmer took the free kick, curving the ball to the left of the Lancers' wall. Colmer's free kick found a striding Roberts, who finished the pass to the near bottom corner past a diving a Carlos Canas.
 
Longwood fired three shots on goal before the Highlander tally, but Aitor Pouseu Blanco's quick reflexes held the Lancer offense at a standstill.
 
The second half saw the Highlander defense hold the Lancers in check, holding Longwood without a shot until the 70th minute.
 
Radford's defense held Longwood to only five shots in the half, picking up its seventh shutout of the season.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • With the Radford win and High Point's 1-1 draw at Liberty, the Highlanders now have the tiebreaker over Presbyterian, who enters the day with a 4-1 league record.
  • The goal marks the fourth on the season for Kieran Roberts, moving him into a tie with Sivert Daehlie for the team lead.
