BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Radford men's basketball team outscored Campbell 22-5 in the final 10:18 and tallied the game's final seven points to complete a 60-56 comeback victory on the road Thursday night.

Brandon Holcomb's dunk off an assist by Rashun Davis with 41 seconds left broke a 56-56 tie and gave the Highlanders their first lead since early in the second half. After a desperation 3-pointer by Chris Clemons rimmed out off the bank, Holcomb got the rebound and hit a pair of free throws to seal the win.

Cameron Jones scored 11 of his team-high 13 points in the second half and hit three 3-pointers to lead the rally. Ed Polite, Jr. totaled 12 points and a team-best eight rebounds, while Holcomb and Davis each added 10 points.

Campbell built a 51-38 lead near the midway point of the second half, but Jones quickly got Radford back into it with back-to-back 3-pointers. The Highlanders then used a 9-0 spurt to tie the game at 53. Davis had four of the points, Polite, Jr. added a basket and pull-up jumper by Jones in transition evened it with 4:50 to play.

Campbell regained the lead on a 3-pointer, but Jones answered on the other end with his third trey. Neither team scored over the next two and half minutes before Davis penetrated and kicked to Holcomb for the go-ahead dunk.

Neither team could gain much separation in the opening half. Radford held the biggest lead at 22-16, before the Fighting Camels got hot late, with Chris Clemons and D.J. Mason combining for 13 of the team's last 15 points to put them in front 31-29 at the break. Campbell then hit eight of 10 shots during a stretch in the second to build its double-digit lead.

Radford returns home for its regular-season finale Saturday against Longwood. The Highlanders' 2016 senior class will be honored prior to the 4 p.m. tipoff inside the Dedmon Center.

QUOTABLE
  • "We have no choice to be comfortable because we've had so many close games, but guys kept their poise. Good things happen, bad things happen but if you keep an even keel and keep fighting until the end you have a chance to win. Cam hit a couple of big 3's and that gave us a little confidence. You could see guys' energy change when those went down and from that point on I thought we got back to playing team basketball and at the end we relied on our defense to get some stops. The zone just changed their rhythm. The Princeton offense is a rhythm offense and they had a flow going at the beginning of the second half and we were able to change it up and that messed up their momentum and they never quite got it back." ~ Radford head coach Mike Jones
