RADFORD, Va. – Aisha Foy sank a 3-pointer with 30.6 seconds remaining, highlighting Radford's 17-7 fourth quarter, which gave the Highlanders a 54-51 comeback victory over Gardner-Webb in Big South action Tuesday night inside the Dedmon Center.

Foy saved her biggest basket for the biggest moment, finishing with 14 points on 5 of 16 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Gaby Gilmore also chipped in 14 points of her own.

Trailing 47-37 with eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Highlanders embarked on a 13-4 run. A falling Jayda Worthy found a wide open Janayla White for a layup with 1:12 left in regulation, pulling RU with one (51-50) of the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Radford proved why it owns the best defense in the Big South, as a Lydia Rivers block and strong defensive stand by the Highlanders gave RU the ball with just under 40 seconds remaining. The Highlanders called timeout, advancing the ball to midcourt.

Coming out of the timeout, RU wasted little timeout going at the Gardner-Webb defense. Radford ran a play for its sharpshooter and the Virginia Beach, Va., native delivered, as Rivers found an open Foy for a 3-pointer from the right side. Her third 3-pointer of the game propelled the Highlanders in front, 53-51, with 30.6 seconds remaining. The clutch 3-pointer gave Radford its first lead of the contest.

The Highlanders had to withstand one last attempt from their opposition, forcing a Tierra Huntsman trey as time expired that was off the mark.

RU will begin the hardest stretch of its 2015-16 conference schedule, playing four of its final six contests on the road. The Highlanders will travel to Charleston Southern on Saturday for a 2 p.m. Big South battle inside the Buc Dome.

QUOTABLE
  • "This was one of our three final home games. We know we are going to have to be really good on the road the rest of the way. That being said, we needed to hold serve at home tonight. For us to get this win, and the way we got it, is really good for our team's confidence. You have to win your home games, and we found a way to win one tonight. I am proud of our resiliency against a very good team in Gardner-Webb." ~ Radford head coach, Mike McGuire
