WOMEN’S LACROSSE WELCOMES HOWARD FOR HOME OPENER

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's lacrosse team is set to make its home debut Saturday at 1 p.m. against Howard at Cupp Stadium.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
Despite a season-high 14 goals and outscoring the opposition 9-7 in the second half, Radford (0-3) was unable to complete the comeback in falling to Delaware State, 18-14, last Saturday in Dover, Del.

The Highlanders trimmed a 10-goal deficit to four late in the second half on the strength of three goals by Juliette Ruland. The Marshall, Va., native finished with four goals in the game, tying Gracie Peterson for team-high honors.

Ruland has Radford's top mark in shots (17), draws (11) and ground balls (5).

Emma Rogers, who ignited the 8-2 run against the Hornets, leads RU in goals with seven. She also ranks second on the team in shots taken with 15.

In goal, Hannah Rosen has been phenomenal in anchoring the Highlanders' defense. She racked up an impressive 26 saves in the Highlanders' two games last week.

SCOUTING HOWARD
The Bison (0-1) dropped their season opener to Delaware State, 11-7, Thursday night in Washington, D.C. They finished 0-10 for their 2015 campaign, including a 0-7 mark in league action.

Howard returns its top goal scorer from last season in Aria Williams. Karli Brentlinger is in her first season as head coach of the Bison. Her younger sister, Jamie, is Howard's assistant coach.

UP NEXT
Radford heads to the Sunshine State for spring break. While there, the Highlanders will clash with Stetson on Tuesday at 7 p.m. from DeLand, Fla.
