NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Radford only managed four hits as the Highlanders dropped a 12-0 decision to No. 2 Vanderbilt, Tuesday night to conclude the two-game series at Hawkins Field.

The Commodores added two runs in the first inning as Walker Grisanti led off with a single, advancing to second on a balk and to third on a fly out. Grisanti scored on a RBI single to center field off the bat of Will Toffey. Vanderbilt added its second run in the inning on a second balk by RU starter Austin Ross. Â

With two quick outs in the bottom of the third, Vanderbilt added six runs on four hits to extend its lead to 8-0. The inning saw an a two-run single up the middle by Ethan Paul and a three-run double to right field off the bat of Walker Grisanti.

Radford's best chance at breaking the scoreless contest came in the top of the fourth as Danny Hrbek lined a one-out double down the right field line. The Highlander threat was ended as Zach York lined out to left field to end the inning.

Vanderbilt added a run in the bottom half of the inning, extending its lead to 9-0.

The RU bullpen held the Commodores scoreless for the next three innings, allowing only two runs on three hits, while combining for six strikeouts.

Tyler Green sealed the Vanderbilt win with a pinch hit three-run home run to left field in the eighth inning, giving the Commodores a 12-0 victory.

Radford returns home on Friday for a three-game series versus Kent State, marking the first meeting between the two teams.
